Southport & West Lancs Prostate Cancer Support Group

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. Over 330,000 men are currently living with the disease and over 40,000 additional men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. It's vital that every single person affected by prostate cancer gets the support they need. At Southport & West Lancs Prostate Cancer Support Group our members all have one thing in common - we have all been through the same traumatic experience and come out the other side, thanks to a variety of treatments. Our aim is to use our combined experiences to help, inform and reassure men, their partners and families when they are faced with prostate cancer. Our group also includes Health Care Professionals, who can provide you with additional help.

This group is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their wives, partners and other family members, as the diagnosis affects everybody close to the patient. By attending the support group men are better informed about their condition and about the range of treatments that might be offered to them.

We aim to improve access to information, support and advice for those affected by Prostate Cancer. It is vital that every person affected by prostate cancer has access to the information support and advice they need.

With the stereotype that men tend not to talk about their health problems and how they are feeling, this support group offers a confidential, informal 'safe' place - with the opportunity for prostate cancer patients and their families to come to share their experience and support each other.
